Question 1

Is ceramic safe for my paint or PPF?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Son Auto Details' ceramic coatings are formulated to be safe for all surfaces, including your paint, paint protection films (PPF), and vinyl. Our coatings are designed to protect your clear coat and paint without voiding any manufacturer warranties.

Question 2

Is ceramic an alternative to wax?

Accepted Answer

Yes, once ceramic is applied, you'll never need to wax again. Maintaining your vehicle's paint is as easy as cleaning your windshield. There's no need for abrasive washes or waxes/sealants

Question 3

Will ceramic protect my car from scratches?

Accepted Answer

Yes, after ceramic coating cures, it becomes three times harder than paint. This significantly improves scratch resistance. While glass can still be scratched or chipped, it's significantly more resistant than your clearcoat.

Question 4

Can I apply the Ceramic Coating to my own vehicle?

Accepted Answer

No, A Ceramic Coating must be applied by trained and certified professionals. This product requires a lot of prep work, strong attention to detail and an understanding of how solvent based coatings work.

Question 5

How long does the application take?

Accepted Answer

The process of ceramic coating will take between 1-3 days depending on the condition of your paint, the size of the vehicle and the packages you select. The 1st step is to wash and prep the vehicle. The 2nd step is to correct all the imperfections in the paint such as swirls and scratches. Once the vehicle is properly prepped, a body shop safe prep solvent will be applied to the entire vehicle to get to bare paint. At this stage the coating process will begin, and each panel of the vehicle will have ceramic applied, leveled, and stacked to achieve the package you have selected.

Question 6

Will ceramic protect me from rock chips?

Accepted Answer

As a silica-based product, ceramic can provide some rock chip resistance. However, it may not completely prevent rock chips from larger stones or high speeds. Just like your glass windshield, ceramic can still get rock chips, but it's much more resistant than your clearcoat.

Question 7

What can ceramic be applied to?

Accepted Answer

Vinyl/Wrap: Ceramic protects your vinyl from spills, stains, oil/grime, and UV rays. It remains flexible and resists cracking or peeling.

‍Glass: Ceramic can be applied to all glass surfaces for water repellency.

‍Chrome: Ceramic helps prevent corrosion, oxidation, and discoloration on chrome and polished finishes.

‍Paint: Applying ceramic to your paint is the best way to prevent fading.

‍Carpet/Fabric: Ceramic can be applied to your upholstery for stain and spill resistance.

Question 8

Does this product require annual servicing?

Accepted Answer

Yes. To maintain your warranty, you need to attend an annual service. This is to ensure ceramic performs properly for the entire length of the warranty. If an annual inspection is missed, the warranty could be voided.

Question 9

I just coated my vehicle, how long til I can wash it?

Accepted Answer

You should wait 14 days before the 1st wash to allow the solvents to outgas and fully cure. If you notice that your car gets water spots, bird droppings, tree sap etc. during these two weeks immediately remove it following our care instructions. Keep in mind the coating is softer during the 14 days so work on the paint very gently.
